Kodiak Boots-Best Boots For Outdoor Adventures

After traveling for more than a year with just two pairs of shoes, we decided it was time to get some adventure boots! After doing some research and trying on different boots at REI, we knew that Kodiak Boots were the ones for us! There were three things that attracted us to these boots, the design, comfort and durability! We didn’t regret the choice we made because these boots are up for an adventure no matter the weather!

Why Kodiak Boots?

Kodiak has a long and prestigious history all the way back to 1910 when the first factory was opened in Canada. From supplying the war effort in World War II to being a fashion statement in the 70’s the company prides itself on making boots which are built to last. Having a long history, and a variety of experience they make boots which are comfortable, look good, and are of high quality.

In 2006, the company brought all of their manufacturing back to Canada and you can really see that rugged Canadian ethos in their products. The boots are perfect for an active lifestyle and also look great!

Review-Women’s Kodiak Surrey II Waterproof Hiker Style Boot

Kaite- The first time I laid my eyes on the Kodiak Surrey boots was when we were getting ready to leave on our one year trip around the world. I was at REI buying all the last minute travel items for our trip and that’s when the boots caught my eye. I couldn’t get them right then and there, but I knew somehow that I would own a pair one day. They looked like they were ready for any adventure I wanted to go on.

We returned from our travels in early October and our trail running shoes and Chacos sandals were not cutting it anymore. The weather was getting too cold and winter coming on. It was time to get new boots and oh how excited I was! The first boots that came to mind were the Kodiak Surrey’s.

When we make big purchases we really make sure to get quality so that things last us for years to come. That’s why before we decided to get Kodiak boots we did our research. We made sure we were getting something that we would be comfortable in and would last us awhile!

Ever since I got the Women’s Surrey boots, I have been wearing them all winter and spring!

  • The leather welt on top and wooden heel on the bottom of the shoe add classic accents
  • The boots come with two sets of laces so you can customizable the look

Design

I received so many compliments on the style and look.  The red shoe laces make the boots stand out and give a fun pop of color.  Also, I like that I can wear them casually around town with a pair of jeans and at the same time I can wear them on a trail. The design is very attractive and can be customized by switching out the laces.

Comfort

The boots are also very comfortable, durable and reliable. I call them my adventure boots because every time I put them on I feel like adventure is about to happen. I can last in them all day and have no problem. It took me a couple days to break them in and feel fully comfortable in them. I have taken them only on short hiking/walking trails and they do great for that. I wouldn’t take them on a long hike or backpacking, they are not made for that, just something to keep in mind. Like I said they are amazing for around the city and short hikes, explorations and mini adventures!

†Experience and Review of Kodiak Boots

During this past April we did a road trip through Oregon’s Willamette Valley and tested them to the limit. I remember specifically one instance when we stopped to hike to a waterfall and discovered that the trails were still covered in snow and mud and it had just started to rain. Thankfully we had our Kodiak Boots and we still decided to go on the trail. I thought maybe there would be a chance that my feet would get a little bit wet or at least damp but after treading through the messy trail we came back to the car with dry and warm feet. That’s when I knew they were keepers! Living in raining Portland, OR we can confidently say that these boots are truly waterproof and will keep you dry on your daily adventures no matter the weather!

I would recommend these boots and give them a 10/10 because they do their job and are designed well! They are built to last and are worth every penny!

Review-Men’s Kodiak Magog Waterproof Boot

Alex- I once bought a pair of boots which I thought were pretty awesome. They were stylish, and I thought I had made a great purchase. In reality they were no match for my active lifestyle, and lasted only a year. One of the great things about Kodiak is their experience with making outdoor, as well as work gear. This allows them to make sure that all of their boots have a high level of durability.

Product Details

Men’s Kodiak Magog Waterproof Boot:

  • Made with waterproof leather, sealed seams, and waterproof membrane construction
  • Natural leather welt with slip resistant lug outsole
  • The inside is lined with removable leather memory foam insole for comfort
  • The shoe has great temperature regulation with 200 GM Thinsulate™ insulation

The Magog boot is the perfect all-purpose boot to have for your everyday city and outdoor outings. With Thinsulate™ insulation, a padded comfort collar, and removable leather memory foam insole the feet stay comfortable and dry.

Design

The Magog Waterproof Boots are designed with good ankle support, perfect for hiking, or simply walking around town. Living in Portland, it’s pretty wet out here, one of the worst things about buying sneakers is no matter how well you try to avoid puddles you inevitably come home with wet feet. The rain starts in September, and doesn’t stop till about May, so I ended up wearing these boots for fall, winter, and spring.

Not only are they well made, they are also pretty good looking. I was able to match them to any of my outfits, whether heading to church, going on a hike, or just running errands around town. They look high quality, without making it seem like you’re about to go hunting for bears in the middle of the grocery store.

Comfort

I’m going to be completely honest with you here, and say I can be pretty lazy. Case in point, the previously mentioned boots which lasted me only a year had a zipper on the side which was a big selling point since I didn’t want to tie my laces every time I put them on. Kodiak doesn’t make any boots like that since it actually makes them weaker, less waterproof, and just overall worse. The boots are a great fit though, easy to put on and take off, and had almost no break in time.

I really felt comfortable to wear these boots pretty much anywhere. They have a classic design to be able to feel comfortable in any setting while also being well made enough to go on some short trail hiking, or exploring in any weather. For example, Katie and I recently went on a trip during the spring time and the hike we were on had some snow on the trail. Most shoes struggle with snow because it has an insidious way of finding its way into your shoes, and leaving your feet wet and cold. The Magog’s did a great job of keeping my feet dry and warm.

†Experience and Review of Kodiak Boots

These boots are pretty dang good. I wore them for about four months pretty regularly while doing short trail hikes, in the rain and snow, and just general around town activities. They are comfortable and stylish, and I felt very presentable in them. They lasted well on hikes, and I did not experience any discomfort in them. I expect them to be able to last me at least 3-4+ years of fairly regular use in the rainy season of Oregon, both daily use, as well as weekend activities.

Review-Men’s Kodiak Proworker Steel Toe 8 Inch Work Boot

As an electrician working in industrial construction, I go through boots every couple of years, sometimes even every year. As a result I need to make sure to get a good pair of boots that will not only be comfortable and durable but will also last me. At this point the verdict is still out on these since I have only been wearing them to work for a few months.

Design

The design of the Men’s Kodiak Proworker Still Toe Work Boot is fairly standard with an 8 inch ankle support, lacing, and steel toes. The exterior is a yellowish leather and slip resistant soles on the bottom. They are also waterproof which in our area is perfect since we have about 9 months of rain.

Comfort

These boots were pretty comfortable from the get go, with maybe just about a week of break-in time. At my job I do a lot of walking, going up and down ladders, and otherwise being on my feet all day. These shoes do a great job of supporting my feet.

†Experience and Review of Kodiak Boots

Overall I am very happy with these boots. They are comfortable and durable for the work I do. I like that they are waterproof, and slip resistant, and they also look nice as well. Although this might not apply to many people, they are comfortable enough for me to be able to wear them while riding my bike in to work, and then back home for what that’s worth. We also heard that Kodiak Boots will be coming out with more Safety Boots this coming fall, so we are looking forward to see what they will come up with next!

Would We Buy Kodiak Boots Again?

Hands down YES! We would totally buy them again once these wear out but not anytime soon because they’re built to last for awhile!

We recommend Kodiak Boots to anyone who is looking for a solid pair of boots for their outdoor adventures and city explorations. I wouldn’t go on a backpacking trip with these, but I would go on a short hike. These are perfect for you if that’s what you are looking to get!
